Up Close With Wezi

Indie Zed met up with award winning songstress Wezi and had a nice chat with her about what she’s been unto since rising to the top of the Zambian music scene.

Q: Can you tell us about your new website?

A: My website is http://www.weziheartsound.com  and it's the place to visit when you want to know anything concerning me as an artist. There you’ll find my Latest singles, music videos, shows bookings, photo shoots and much more.

Q: Can you tell us about Mwenzeko?

A: The song Mwenzeko is dedicated to all mothers of course it being inspired by my own, Saying in this journey of life you've always been there. I'm an award winning artist now but I wouldn't be any where without her prayers

Q: Where was it produced and what went into it, what’s your creative process and who do you share a comfortable working relationship with?

A: My first ever studio project is a 12 track compilalation called Uhai. It was produced by some of Zambia's best producers. It took about 3 years to put it together. One song at a time. Dice for alpha entertainment studio's produced my lead single called Nyimbo Zako and I recorded in Ndola.. Majority of it was produced by Sam Nyambe and Yamikani 'Coin-Coin' Maiwanga...James Sakala.. and Mojo studios as well

Q: Do we see you having any kids any time soon?
A: Kids, my music is my offspring. I don't want to bring human beings into the world and give them no attention but provide for them. There is a significant difference between caring for kids and raising them. No kids for me until I feel I'm fit enough to do more than just buy stuff

Q: How's been the rise to fame?

A: In my eyes, I don't see myself as someone famous, I can say I'm still rising to fame.

Q: Do you believe louise linton?

A: Louise Linton, well... it's just a matter of gains, she indirectly shined a beam on Zambia to the world. Because of her lies we can share the truth about us and Africa too, kill the stereotypes a bit more. It's a win-win situation lies or not but she definitely lied. We went all out with her lies.

Q: And finally, what message do you have for the youth during this election period?

A: Don't go out looking for saviours when voting for leaders, we are yet to see a selfless passionate political leader who would see the people of Zambia as worth spending 27years in jail for. We are yet to see charismatic leaders who genuinely fear God like Martin Luther King Jr. One who will pray for our nation when no one's there to hear him. One who will fight for justice for the most vulnerable in our society, one who will encourage all Zambians to seek mental liberation, avoiding being victims of manipulation and propaganda.

One who will help our people improve their work culture. A person who will wake Zambia up! Don't fight one another when you are one. The politician you want to die for during these campaigns will not drive you in the expensive government cars they are riding in, you must work on your own to get a better life for yourself. Don't wait for a politician to bring to you a better Zambia.

As we vote, let the fight happen in the ballot boxes not between people of the same nationality.

Let's thrive for a peaceful transition into the next political generation.
